GIScience 2016 Workshop on

Analysis of Movement Data (AMD'16)

27 September 2016, Montreal, Canada

AMD 2016 |   Call for Participation   | Important Dates | Program Committee | Abstracts | Registration | Schedule

Workshop Themes:

We invite submissions that describe recent research that fits the general theme of computational movement analysis, including, but not limited to, the following topics:

We are interested in work dealing with any type of moving object (animals, people, vehicles, goods etc.).

Workshop Format:

The morning of this full-day workshop will consist of research talks selected from this Call. The afternoon will feature a panel session proposing future research directions, followed by a break-out session to reflect on some of the key ideas of the panel in more detail. The day will end with a plenary wrap-up session to compile a list of challenges and topics for the future research agenda.

Special Issue:

A special issue, with the same scope as the workshop, will be published in the International Journal of Geographical Information Science (IJGIS). Submissions to the special issue may be made by either the workshop participants or others interested in the theme. Participation in the workshop does not guarantee acceptance in the special issue, and all submissions will be submitted to a review process that follows IJGIS standards. The full papers for the special issue will be due only after the workshop, thus allowing to incorporate feedback and new insights gained at the workshop, and potentially even forming new teams of authors.

Submission Guidelines:

Submissions of short discussion papers (1500 words) should be emailed in PDF-format to Somayeh Dodge (somayeh.dodge@gmail.com) with the subject header GIScience 2016 AMD Submission. A template for paper submissions is provided here.

In the email you send to Somayeh Dodge with your submission, you should furthermore provide answers to the following two questions:

  1. What are the 1 to 3 grand challenges in the research domain of movement analysis?
  2. What are the 1 to 3 key trends in research domain of movement analysis?

Your answers will help us shaping the panel discussion and the break-out sessions.
